RSA receives ABS approval

RSA has become the third insurer to link up with law firm Parabis Group to launch an alternative business structure.

It follows Direct Line and Saga in establishing a legal structure with the firm.

The new outfit, known as RSA Law, received approval from the Solicitors Regulation Authority on 5 March and its license is effective from 5 April 215.

The firm is licensed to undertake rights of audience, conduct of litigation, reserved instrument activities, probate activities, and administration of oaths.

The ABS will be lead by head of legal practice Allison Kemp, while Peter Roberts will be head of finance and administration for the joint venture.

An RSA spokesperson said, ‘We can confirm that we have received approval to establish an Alternative Business Structure in partnership with Parabis. We are creating RSA Law to support our customers who have a genuine need for a seamless high quality claims and legal service.’

Tim Roberts, group commercial director of Parabis, said, ‘This is another exciting development underlining the significant role that insurers are playing in customer-facing legal services provision in this country.

‘The ABS allows RSA to extend its service offering to customers allowing them to benefit from our core skills such as business processing and litigation.’
