Drive My Career skills initiative launched by NFDA

The National Franchised Dealer Association’s (NFDA) has unveiled a new initiate to encourage new skills into the sector.

Launched to coincide with National Apprenticeship Week, the Drive My Career (DMC) campaign aims to debunk the myths around recruiting apprentices while also highlighting the varied careers available in the automotive industry.

Sue Robinson, NFDA chief executive, said: “It is highly encouraging to see the strong participation of numerous franchised retailers in both Drive My Career and National Apprenticeship Week.

“This collective effort highlights our members’ ongoing dedication to engaging young talent in the automotive industry and showcasing the wide range of career opportunities available.”

The initiative comes after the government announced it was revamping the rules and funding options around apprentices to encourage greater uptake. This includes reducing the minimum duration from 12 to eight months starting next academic year.

Robinson concluded: “NFDA thanks all members for their commitment to making the automotive sector a dynamic and rewarding place to work.”
