Steer Automotive Group has acquired CarComm Coachworks, a leading specialist in the repair and maintenance of commercial vehicles. This acquisition marks a significant milestone in Steer’s expansion into the specialist commercial vehicle repair sector.

CarComm Coachworks, which won the Environmental Trailblazer Award and was a finalist for Large Bodyshop of the Year at September’s Bodyshop Awards 2024, operates from a 55,000-sqft facility near Heathrow, providing high-quality repair services for a range of commercial vehicles, including LCVs, HGVs, public transport vehicles, and specialist agricultural and roadside maintenance vehicles supporting the emergency services.

The acquisition strengthens Steer Automotive Group’s Commercial Division, building on the robust reputation and elite truck standards CarComm has earned for delivering top-tier repair solutions, particularly for complex and large-scale projects and consistently pioneering the elite truck standard across the goods vehicle repair sector.

Jason Mole, managing director of CarComm, will continue overseeing the business while also being appointed commercial vehicle managing director, playing a key role in developing Steer Commercial.

As Steer acquires CarComm Coachworks, Mole said:

“This partnership provides a fantastic opportunity to scale Carcomm’s operations and continue delivering exceptional service to our clients. I am excited to work with the Steer team to grow both the Heathrow site and Steer’s wider commercial vehicle repair offering.”

Measurably different

John Breeney, site manager at CarComm, will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring business continuity and supporting the next phase of growth.

Richard Steer, CEO of Steer Automotive Group, added:

“We are delighted to welcome CarComm and its dedicated team into the Steer family. This acquisition is a critical step in expanding our capabilities within the commercial vehicle repair market. The reputation for excellence that CarComm has cultivated aligns perfectly with our mission of delivering ‘measurably different’ automotive repair services across the UK.”
