SYNETIQ initiative supports sustainability strategy
SYNETIQ is enhancing is sustainability credentials by carrying out a project to calculate the carbon emissions of its auction vehicles.
The IAA company is undertaking the study with sustainability consultants Oakdene Hollins as part of its ‘Road to Tomorrow’ strategy which aims to calculate the company’s emissions and then identify areas where improvements can be made.
Emissions
Results of the study have revealed that transportation of auction vehicles is the primary contributor of emissions, followed by vehicle processing and forklift movements. As such, it is now collaborating with Masters students from Sheffield Hallam University to explore innovative solutions and trial new software aimed at optimising route planning to reduce mileage of both collection and parts delivery vehicles.
Tom Rumboll, UK managing director for IAA and CEO of SYNETIQ said:
“We are committed to driving positive change in our industry and minimising our environmental impact. By quantifying the carbon footprint of auction vehicles and taking proactive steps to reduce emissions, we are setting a new standard for sustainability in the automotive sector.”
