Steer Automotive Group celebrates apprenticeships
Steer Automotive Group celebrated its Automotive Body Repair and Automotive Refinishing competitions for apprentices in February.
The Steer Apprentice Skills Competition, designed to help prepare apprentices for their end point assessments and recognise their outstanding progress, took place recently at Emtec College and 3M.
Steer Group launched the Apprentice Skills competition to raise standards, boost confidence, hone problem-solving abilities, and enhance planning and time management skills.
Head of academy and organisation development Steve Hoe said: “Everyone involved with the competition noted the apprentices’ outstanding attitudes and their demonstration of high-level skills, making the scoring incredibly tight. All our apprentices gained valuable insights, with experienced judges providing feedback after every task. We were very pleased with how it went and can’t wait to do it all over again.”
Judges this year were Andy Geary (LKQ), Chris Colton (3M), Karl Smith (Stanners Equipment), Jim Swann (Steer), Kieron Woolgar (Thatcham Research), Michael Massey (3M), Paris Asquith (Steer), Robert Smith (Axalta), and Satpal Thamu (Emtec College), with the overall winner to be announced in March.
