School of Thought seeks industry support for India initiative

School of Thought is seeking £5k in funding to deliver automotive training to students in India.

With the help of Paul Sewell from Chesterfield College and a number of virtual meetings with the department of education in the Tiptur region, School of Thought has devised training courses and secured equipment and training partners in mechanical, body and paint.

With most of the project self-funding, School of Thought is now seeking industry support to turn this initiative into reality.

Founder Dave Reece said: “The automotive industry worldwide has a severe shortage of skilled technicians. There is an opportunity to change the lives of young students in Tiptur Southern India with a new programme called The School of Thought Foundation. The programme will give students the opportunity to receive not only the academic knowledge of repairing vehicles but more importantly hands-on experience. Preparing this training has taken over a year of dedication from several people with a passion for training the future talent of the industry and giving them the skills that will last a lifetime.”

He continued: “A Just Giving crowdfunding page has been created to reach out to the industry to give just a little to help launch this unique programme which could be introduced into the India Schools curriculum helping thousands of young students into careers in the automotive sector. Making this project work in India means it could work anywhere.”
