Copart celebrates first Academy graduate
Copart is celebrating its first Driver Academy graduate. Luke Geach from its Bristol Operation Centre has become the first driver to complete the training.
He joined the company in March as a trainee transporter driver.
He said: “My training was both varied and at times challenging. With hard work and support from my management and teammates, I have been able to achieve my goal of obtaining my C+E HGV licence. Now the real learning begins as I embark on a new career as a car transporter driver.”
The company launched the new driving academy in January with the support of carbon-neutral training provider HGVC. It hopes to train up to 100 new drivers in the first year.
As part of the programme, trainees start by focusing on theory, spending time in a Copart Operation Centre learning about the yard processes and shadowing an experienced Driver mentor to observe their daily duties, including safely loading and unloading vehicles from our multi-car transporters.
This is followed up by the practical elements of the course, with further training in Copart transporters and off-site tests and assessments.
