Traffic set to surge
Nearly half of drivers are planning to use their cars more than normal in the next two months, with 57% heading to the countryside and 56% to the coast.
This is according to a study carried out by Autoglass.
Neil Atherton, sales and marketing director, said: “Following the easing of restrictions, we expect the UK’s roads to get extremely busy over the summer as thousands of Brits hit the road to enjoy the new freedom.
“Our data shows that half of us (47%) are expecting to use our cars more frequently over the next two months as restrictions lift across the country. Despite the recent relaxing of international travel restrictions, 85% drivers are planning to explore the country’s homegrown attractions this summer, more than double the number for your average summer, suggesting that most of the nation will be choosing a staycation over a vacation.
“Meanwhile, 17% of drivers also say they are now using their cars more often to dodge commuter crowds, so it’s fair to say our roads are set to get extremely busy over the next few weeks.”
