Perfect 10 for CAVC students
Automotive students at Cardiff and Vale College (CAVC) have won an impressive 10 industry and skills awards in the last year.
The students are in the vehicle finishing, body repair, and heavy vehicle engineering sectors.
Thomas Venn won the Automotive Body Repair Award at the QSA Annual Awards while Joao Camacho took home the Automotive Heavy Vehicle Award.
Meanwhile, in this year’s Skills Competition Wales, CAVC students swept the board in the heavy vehicle category with Luke Friston winning gold, Philip Gregory silver and Dafydd Jones taking bronze.
Sion Lewis won gold in vehicle refinishing and Owen Sims won silver, while Lewis Hastings and Joel Windsor won gold and silver in vehicle body repair.
CAVC also saw a medallist in Inclusive Skills, a skills contest for people with additional learning needs, with Owen Parton taking bronze in Inclusive Auto Tech.
CAVC deputy principal Sharon James said: “Congratulations to all of our auto award winners – to do so well under such challenging circumstances is a really impressive achievement. It is also testament to the hard work and dedication of the college’s industry expert auto team, who really go that extra mile to ensure their learners reach such a high standard.”
