Records smashed as awards nominations close

Nominations for the bodyshop Awards 2020 have now closed and behind the scenes we are starting to sort through the hundreds of submissions from across all sectors of the collision repair industry.

Thank you to all who have submitted nominations. In fact, there have been so many of you we’ve shattered all previous records in every category, including our 30 under 30: rising stars category – which recognises those young high-achievers who are the future of our industry.

Across all 17 categories in the main awards we have received 300-plus nominations, plus over 80 more in the 30 under 30 competition.

Now it’s the job of the bodyshop magazine team and our 15 independent judges to narrow down the candidates and identify the 2020 finalists and winners. The judges, all of whom have been announced in previous issues of bodyshop, will convene on 3 September and the 2020 finalists will be announced in our October issue.

The practical assessments for the six Technicians and Apprentice Technicians of the Year awards will be run over the first three weeks of September at Remit Group, and the finalists will be announced at the same time.

For this year only, the assessments for the VDA of the Year award will be conducted online and over the telephone by a judging panel from the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors.

Check back regularly because we will be unveiling the identity of a fantastic celebrity host who will inject pizzazz into the awards ceremony on 15 December at ICC Wales.
