Record month underlines growing trend
Online car repair marketplace ClickMechanic reported a record month in June, when it provided more than 210,200 quotes to customers.
The requests with the strongest surge in demand were all for pre-purchase inspections, with ClickMechanic’s data showing significantly higher numbers in June compared to pre-lockdown volumes in February.
The top three jobs with the greatest rise in demand compared with pre-lockdown levels were: premium pre-purchase inspection (108% higher in June than February); basic pre-purchase inspection (98% higher in June than February); and standard pre-purchase inspection (97% higher in June than February).
Andrew Jervis, co-founder of ClickMechanic, said: “With people encouraged to resume work and leisure safely to kick-start the economy, ClickMechanic’s busiest month on record shows a considerable rise in consumers looking to purchase a vehicle to reduce their dependence on public transport.”
