Driveway demand surges as Brits flock to coast
Demand for rented driveways in coastal towns has gone up by more than 375% in some cases since lockdown restrictions began to ease.
Popular coastal towns and cities such as Southend-on-Sea, Brighton, Weymouth and St Ives have seen demand for rented driveway bookings increase by more than 300% over the past month, according to a new study by YourParkingSpace.
Other seaside hotspots, including Bournemouth, Blackpool, Margate and Great Yarmouth, have reported rented driveway bookings rocket by at least 220%.
Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace, said: “We’re seeing a massive increase in rented driveway bookings in seaside towns as Brits return to the coast following a relaxation in lockdown rules.
“Our research shows that Southend-on-Sea has enjoyed a massive 375% increase in rented driveway bookings post-lockdown, the highest by some way. I would expect demand here to only increase in August throughout the summer holidays, and at other seaside resorts, with many people preferring a staycation.”
Driveway owners in Brighton are making an average of £162 per month with YourParkingSpace, followed by Bournemouth and Worthing where residents make on average £92 and £78 respectively.
