North East recruiter celebrates 6,000th vacancy

Motor industry recruiter Ingenia has just logged its 6,000 vacancy.

Now in its 27th year, the North East-based company has achieved this against a trend of major skills shortages in dealerships, bodyshops and independent workshops across the region.

Steve Shaw, director, said: “We are now seeing CVs being submitted where people working in dealerships or bodyshops now have very questionable backgrounds. This is a direct result of dealers not recruiting enough apprentices for many years, which was always going to lead to the current situation. It is a sad sign of the times, but managers sometimes simply have to recruit ‘the best of a bad bunch’.

”This industry and the vehicles we work on is very technical and changing fast, this increases demand for qualified workers.”
