Fix Auto Wigan under new ownership
Fix Auto Wigan’s Andy Sankey has completed a management buyout of the business from previous owners Dave and Steve Pollitt.
Andy joined the family-run company 18 years ago as a workshop controller before being promoted to bodyshop manager. He was appointed as managing director shortly after the operation joined Fix Auto UK in May 2017.
The business has since invested heavily in equipment and training for staff within its 17,600 sqft main site. In February last year the company opened a purpose-built 7,500 sqft Fix & Go express repair facility that also houses a state-of-the-art alloy wheel refurbishment system.
Sankey said: “It’s always been my dream to one day own my own bodyshop and thanks to Dave and Steve, that has become a reality. About eight months ago, Dave mentioned they were seriously considering stepping back and selling the business. I went home, talked things through with my wife and made them an offer. I really cannot thank Dave and Steve enough for their support and trust in me since the first day I joined them. They really have given me a life-changing opportunity. I am truly excited about the new chapter ahead, not just for me personally but for the entire business.”
Dave Pollitt said: “The time was now right to step aside and we could not have a safer pair of hands to take on the business than Andy’s. He is the perfect man for the job. He has lived and breathed it as if it were his own since we appointed him as our managing director, buying the business was the natural step. We have worked with many talented people and forged great friendships with colleagues, business partners and customers over the years who have helped to make the business what it is today. We wish Andy and everyone involved with the business all the best for the future.”
Fix Auto UK’s Ian Pugh commented: “I congratulate Andy for what he has achieved. I know Dave and Steve have the highest regard for him and for what he has achieved for their business and I am sure they’re able to step aside knowing it’s in the safest of hands. Andy is a true entrepreneur and he’s driven to succeed. I wish him every success for this next chapter.”
