Fix expands into the West Country

Fix Auto UK has announced that West Somerset Motors has joined the network. The repairer will now operate as Fix Auto Wellington.

Fix Auto Wellington has been owned by Chris Hickman since 2012, and previously by his father John since its formation in 1984. The business relocated to its current 12,000-repair centre just four months ago as part of his final plans before joining the network. This move was the latest in his development plans for the business.

The business was originally a mechanical repair operation that specialised in building professionally specced rally cars which he himself races. Growth areas have since included acquiring a repair bodyshop and merging the two businesses.

Speaking at the time of joining the network, Chris said: “I am 31 and extremely ambitious. Since buying the business from my dad, I’ve bought a secondary business that has enabled me to expand our services, becoming part of Fix Auto UK has been on my agenda for a while now.

“I have a great team of highly skilled guys underpinning the business. When we moved to our new site they recognised instantly what I am trying to build and they all worked to ensure a seamless transition to the new premises.”

In order to accelerate his development plans, Chris has worked closely with industry consultant Duncan Harris who he also credits with encouraging him to join Fix Auto UK.

Chris added: “While I am extremely proud of what I’ve achieved, I also know I have a lot to learn in order to further develop myself and the business. Joining Fix Auto UK provides that support and guidance. I recognised some time ago that in order to progress in this industry you have to be part of a network and I’ve joined the best there is.”
