PSA Group and Fiat Chrysler in merger talks

The PSA Group is discussing a merger with Fiat Chrysler. A deal between the two automotive giants would create a business valued at nearly £40bn.

Fiat Chrysler had been discussing a merger with Renault earlier this year but talks broke down in June.

Discussions between PSA Group, which owns Peugeot, are in the early stages and are likely to face a number of hurdles. However, a deal would bring a number of brands under one roof, including Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Jeep, Opel, Peugeot and Vauxhall.

It’s been reported that PSA chief executive Carlos Tavares would lead the enlarged group with John Elkann remaining as Fiat Chysler chairman.
