Apollo makes apprenticeship pledge

Apollo Motor Group, will take on another 25 apprentices at its sites across the south of the country.

The third largest independent accident repair group in the UK works in partnership with national training provider, Remit Group, delivering apprenticeship programmes in body repair, vehicle refinishing, mechanical electrical and trim (MET) and parts.

It has already taken on 26 apprentices through Remit, and is convinced of the overall benefits to its business of bringing through apprentices to help bridge the skills gap the industry is facing.

Paul Clements, group service delivery manager for Apollo Motor Group, said, ‘We have recognised for some time now how important it is to have a constant talent pipeline developing within our business. We have created our own Apollo Academy to help attract the right candidates, and we use Remit to provide all of our training and mentoring requirements.

‘The programme so far is proving to be very successful with 26 apprentices already on the programme across our 15 sites. We are now pledging to extend our programme, with a further 25 apprenticeship vacancies being made available in 2019.’

Apprentices will be taken on across a variety of sites, including the Apollo head office in Portsmouth, Sittingbourne, Westbury, Swindon, Cheltenham, Salisbury, Chichester, Horsham, Dover, Bexhill and Basingstoke.

Mick Pilling, automotive development director, said, ‘We have always played a huge part in National Apprenticeship Week, and saw this year as a great opportunity to work with our partners and achieve something tangible, that will have an impact throughout the year.

‘Apollo has been a fantastic partner organisation to work with, and their commitment to the development of their employees is second to none. I’m delighted they’ve been able to pledge so many vacancies so early in the year. I look forward to continuing to work with them to establish the bridge from their excellent Apollo Academy programme into apprenticeships and beyond.’
