The electric capital of UK revealed
Peterborough is UK capital for electric cars, with one in 80 cars in the road a plug in.
In total, there are 2,186 electric cars in the town, almost as many as there are throughout the entire north west, where there are 2,651 in total.
Slough is second on the list with 1,114 electric vehicles – or one in 141 – while in Westminster one in 142 vehicles is a plug in.
Also in the top 10 is Birmingham with 1 in 169, although just a few miles away the Black Country is at the other end of the scale with only one electric vehicle in 2,021 in Wolverhampton.
Camden (one in 179), Bedford (one in 206), Islington (one in 207) and Gloucestershire (one in 209) make up the rest of the top 10, while at the other end of the scale only one in roughly 2,953 cars in Plymouth requires a plug.
Across the UK as a whole, there are 41,311 plug-in vehicles. That means they make up one in roughly 754 of all cars on the road.
The figures are based on the location of registered keepers of each vehicle on the UK’s roads at the end of the third quarter of 2015.
