Chevrolet’s Bolt out the blue

A mainstream electric car with a 200-mile range could be released by the end of the year.

The Chevrolet Bolt was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show last week which could retail for around the £20,000 mark.

Car and Driver described the car as a ‘revolutionary electric car’, while The Wall Street Journal quoted Kelly Blue Book’s Karl Brauer as saying, ‘The Chevrolet Bolt represents the first serious electric vehicle available to mainstream consumers.’

Developed with car sharing in mind, Bolt also offers access to apps and services that personalise the driving experience and will get ‘smarter’ all the time as drivers can access the cloud for data about the collective experience of Bolt owners.

The downside is that recharging the Bolt to 80%, using Quick Charge technology, is expected to take more than 30 minutes.

However, the progress Chevrolet has made has been impressive. It only announced the concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
