MAPFRE manager takes on commerce presidency
The Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Great Britain has appointed Javier San Basilio, regional manager of MAPFRE RE in the UK, as the institution’s new president.
Javier San Basilio was previously vice president of the management committee of the chamber of commerce, of which MAPFRE RE has been a member for the past seven years. Over this period, he has been very committed to his duties, first as a member, and since January 2013 as vice president.
MAPFRE RE is the reinsurance unit of the MAPFRE Group and has offices in 19 cities around the world, providing services in over 100 countries.
MAPFRE has been present in the United Kingdom since 1991, where it operates through its MAPFRE RE, MAPFRE ASISTENCIA and MAPFRE GLOBAL RISKS Business Units. In the first nine months of the year revenues in Great Britain totalled euro 218 million.

It is the leader in the Spanish insurance market, the top multinational insurance group in Latin America, and one of the 10 largest European groups in terms of premium volume. MAPFRE employs more than 38,000 professionals and has nearly 29 million clients worldwide. In 2014, its net profit exceeded 845 million euros and its revenue amounted to euro 26,367 million.
