PPG seeks volunteers to brighten up Bury Hospice

PPG will add colour to the lives of patients receiving palliative and end-of-life care when it redecorates Bury Hospice in Lancashire from 5-6 April.

The hospice has been chosen as one of 10 PPG’s Colorful Communities Projects, a global programme that selects a number of projects each year to support with paint, personnel and expertise.

PPG will not only provide the paint and preparation materials through its Johnstone’s Paints division, but is also arranging a design consultancy to select a colour palette and an artist to paint a stunning mural in the reception area.

The company is now seeking volunteers to help decorate the rooms. Up to 100 volunteers are required each day to bring this project to life, with equipment, PPE, lunch and refreshments provided.

Bury Hospice support

The origin of this project began last year. Jo, the wife of Morelli’s northern sales director Andy Johnson, works as volunteer services coordinator for Bury Hospice. She asked if any of Morelli’s paint partners would support the hospice by donating a few cans of paint.

Richard Goode, automotive refinish director, PPG, not only said yes, but nominated the hospice to be considered as one of PPG’s Colorful Communities Projects.

Verity Mooring, marketing executive, Morelli, said:

“From being a plea for some cans of paint, this has now turned into a complete redecoration project at the Hospice, fully funded by PPG. We have been blown away with the scope of what is being done as part of this amazing project for the hospice.”
