Inaugural FMGRS Apprentice Skills Competition unveiled

The inaugural FMGRS Apprentice Skills Competition will take place this month as the company underlines its commitment to developing the next generation of talent.

FMGRS set out its commitment to developing new talent in 2021 with a five-year plan to ensure at least 15% of its technical workforce came through its apprenticeship programme by the end of 2026.

To achieve this, it created a supportive and dedicated apprenticeship programme, assigned mentors trained to provide day-to-day support, and launched a recruitment drive to showcase the varied careers available in the sector.

Thanks to these efforts, it has now reported a penetration of 23% technical apprentices working across its bodyshop network, in disciplines such as paint, panel and MET.

To celebrate the next generation coming through, it has now announced that it will host the first FMGRS Apprentice Skills Competition at its Technical Training Centre in Goole on 24 February.

The three-day event will enable apprentices to practise their skills in a competitive environment and prepare to compete in the FMGRS-sponsored IMI World Skills Competition later this year.
