New data finds Ford Focus most scrapped car in 2024

New data has revealed the most scrapped cars in 2024 in the UK, with the Ford Focus occupying top spot.

The research by Scrap Car Comparison found that the Ford Focus made up 6.3% of all the cars scrapped in the UK last year, followed by the Vauxhall Astra (5.6%).

The Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra were also the two most scrapped cars in 2023, with 42,639 and 35,578 units written off respectively.

Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Corsa represented 4.8% of all scrapped cars in 2024, with the Ford Fiesta (4.4%) and Volkswagen Golf (2.5%) completing the top five scrapped models.

In sixth place was the Renault Clio, which accounted for 2.5% of scrapped cars, followed by the Vauxhall Zafira (2.3%), Mini Hatch (2.2%), Peugeot 207 (two per cent), and Volkswagen Polo (1.7%).

When it comes to vehicle manufacturers, Vauxhall models accounted for 17.3% of scrapped cars with Ford making up 16.8%. Both were well ahead of Volkswagen (7.2%) and Peugeot (6.8%).
