BYD was the fastest selling car brand in the UK last year as it saw sales volumes surge by 658% during 2024.
The Chinese brand – Build Your Dreams – sold more than 8,700 electric cars in 2024 after only launching into the UK market in 2023.
The news comes after two separate reports by Auto Trader and Jato Dynamics highlight the growing influence of Chinese brands on the UK and European markets.
BYD launched in the UK with the ATTO 3 SUV and has since introduced four more models, with the Sealion 7 expected to be released in the spring. It has grown from 14 retail sites to more than 60 and plans to increase its network further this year, while brand awareness has shot up from just one per cent in 2023 to 31% last year.
