Best value used cars ranked by AA
The top 20 towns offering the best value used cars have been revealed by new research carried out by AA Cars.
Its study analysed 200 towns and cities in the UK, assessing available used cars based on age, price, and mileage.
The data found that Aldershot offered the best value for money deals, with an average age of used cars at 4.6 years and an average mileage of 29,927. Kidlington and Bromley were ranked second and third.
The cheapest vehicles were found in Wokingham, with an average price of £5,841, although the average age of used cars in the town was 12.2 years and the average mileage was 74,169.
James Hosking, managing director of AA Cars, said: “Buying a used car isn’t all about going for the cheapest deal, as that vehicle may not present the best value for money overall.
“While price is an important factor for those on a tight budget, a lower upfront cost can sometimes lead to higher expenses down the line. Two other important considerations are age and mileage — older vehicles are more prone to mechanical issues, which can be costly to repair, while high mileage increases the risk of wear and tear, potentially shortening the car’s lifespan.”
