A1 Remote Diagnostics unveils BMW breakthrough

A1 Remote Diagnostics has developed and launched a working solution for remotely programming the latest BMW Group vehicles.

The solution is expected to provide repairers with a quick and cost-effective way for programming the diagnostic infrastructure on the newest BMW models.

For example, the company reported that in the first week after launch the solution was able to remotely program, code, and calibrate a steering rack on a BMW iX1 – a job which might have taken 30 days if sent to a main dealer – in an hour.

Adam Molloy, operations director said: “Until now, there was no choice but to send models such as the IX and 7 Series to the main dealer for software updates, coding, or programming following module replacements.

“The new diagnostic infrastructure on these vehicles means that if for instance, you replace the steering rack, you have to update almost 50 control units overall. We’ve developed a solution that means you can just code the part being replaced. This is big news for BMW repairers.

“In the UK, we’re the only remote diagnostics company who can do this work inhouse and are making it available via our A1 Remote Diagnostic interface. We’re proud to be at the forefront of helping repairers reduce costs and key-to-key times. The last thing anyone wants, is having no choice but to be beholden to main dealers to finish a job.”
