GYS P Series MIG welders – a new pulse welding price point

GYS P Series pulse welder

GYS has announced the launch of the new GYS P Series welding machines which aim to bring pulse welding to bodyshops at a new price point.

For some years there has been a move towards pulse welding, initially from heavy industry but also in collision repair. With reduced heat input and excellent control of the weld pool, there are obvious performance benefits. Additionally, many premium car makers now specify pulse welding as part of their repair standards.

Though some bodyshops have already made the switch to pulse welding, many do so only to ensure compliance with these standards. Like many technologies, it can come at a cost with pulse functionality typically commanding an investment premium of more than 50-100% over non-pulse.

GYS P Series

The new generation GYS P Series welding machines offer the bodyshop pulse technology with all of the features needed for a body repair but at a new price point. GYS P Series welding machines are priced much closer to a standard non-pulse bodyshop MIG/MAG.

Neil Pulsford, GYS managing director, said:

“As the historic price premium has largely been removed, GYS expect that this will signal a shift to PULSE MIG/MAG now becoming the standard in UK bodyshops.”

GYS is offering a trade-in scheme to further narrow the price gap, with up to £400 off when trading in an old MIG. For a three-torch MIG/MAG system this makes the price difference between pulse and non-pulse only £250.
