Stellantis charity golf day raises £20,000 for DEBRA
The third annual Stellantis charity golf day raised more than £20,000 for the charity DEBRA, a national support organisation for people living with the rare, extremely painful, genetic skin blistering condition, epidermolysis bullosa (EB), also known as “Butterfly Skin”.
On 20 June, 92 golfers teed off in good conditions at the Telford Hotel Golf & Spa, with competitor prizes up for grabs from a wide range of industry sponsors. The golfers were sounded off at mid-day by this year’s special guest, eight-year-old EB sufferer Jamie White.
At present there is no treatment and no cure for sufferers of EB with the only relief coming from dressings, bandages and morphine for the pain. The charity DEBRA works towards providing a better future, free from pain for EB sufferers.

Former professional footballer and Welsh football manager Dean Saunders was this year’s celebrity guest, his appearance sponsored by Axalta. Saunders offered autographs and signatures to golfers and guests and assisted in the evening’s charity auction.
The competitors all had the opportunity of claiming numerous prizes and achievements on the course, thanks again to generous corporate sponsorship. Vizion Network sponsored a Citroen AMI as a hole-in-one prize on hole 16, which was won by Carl Kirby.
Hot competition
George Boden, resident PGA teaching professional at the hotel took part in the beat the pro competition, sponsored by Morelli and Stellantis. Sam Goffin won nearest the pin on hole three, sponsored by BASF; Graham Branwell took nearest the pin in two on hole eight, sponsored by Stellantis; Wayne Skelton won nearest the pin on 11, sponsored by Autocraft Telford; and Jake Hodnett claimed longest drive on hole 18, sponsored by Axalta and U-POL.
Team prizes went to Vizion in fourth, sponsored by Morelli; Abarth in third, sponsored by Stellantis; Budgen Motors second, sponsored by Vizion; and Team Alfa first, sponsored by 3M.
Charity auction
Alongside the competition on the greens, there was also a charity auction, with Morelli northern sales director Andy Johnson acting as resident auctioneer. The auction of sporting goods and memorabilia raised an additional £10,000 on the evening.
Paul Glover of Morelli Group and Stellantis said:
“A massive thanks to all the individuals and companies that helped and supported us this year. 3M for their overall sponsorship of the event for the third year running, Budgen Motors for sorting out the fantastic display of the latest Peugeot range of cars, and a special mention to all the organisations for their contributions and donations.”
