Nissan Qashqai tops SUV charts
The 10 most popular SUVs in the UK have been revealed, with the Nissan Qashqai ranked in first place with 647,846 licensed vehicles on the road.
According to research carried out by Uswitch car insurance, the Nissan Juke ranks in second place with 353,288 licensed vehicles, while the Land Rover Discovery was third with 338,168 licensed vehicles.
Completing the top 10 were the Kia Sportage, Ford Kuga, Volkswagen Tiguan, Vauxhall Mokka, Honda CR-V, Citroen C4 and Range Rover Europe.
The research also gave SUVs an overall ranking according to price, running costs and fuel economy, with the Citroën C4 coming out on top with a score of 9.03 out of 10, based on an average new price of £23,995, modest road tax costs of £180, and a fuel economy of 56.6 mpg.
Meanwhile, the cheapest SUV to buy is the MG ZS, averaging £20,838, while the Tesla Model Y is the most eco-friendly SUV with a miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) of 128.1, placing it ahead of models with hybrid variants like the Volvo XC60.
