Leapmotor ships first EVs to European market

The new joint venture between Stellantis and Leapmotor has shipped its first batch of electric vehicles to Europe.

Leapmotor International plans to sell the new models, the C10 and T03, from 200 locations around Europe by the end of the year, and from 500 locations by the end of 2026.

Sales in the UK are expected to begin next March.

Leapmotor has also said it plans to escape the 30%-38% import tariff imposed by the EU on vehicles produced in China by moving manufacturing to Europe.

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares said: “The shipment of Leapmotor C10 and T03 vehicles to Europe this month is a landmark moment in the partnership between Stellantis and Leapmotor.

Leapmotor has sold more than 400,000 EVs in China in the first half of July alone.
