IMI survey urges members to share views on automotive skills
As part of its commitment to attract and retain automotive talent, the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) is responding to the government’s Industrial Strategy Consultation, and is urging its members to respond to an IMI survey on automotive skills.
The IMI’s 100,000-plus members and others are being given a voice on the critical issues around automotive skills for inclusion in the submission, through a sector-specific survey.
IMI survey on automotive skills
Azlina Bulmer, managing director of the IMI, said of the IMI survey:
“It is vital that the government’s industrial strategy takes account of the vital role the automotive sector plays in the UK’s industrial and economic landscape. Working together with our members and partners we believe we can collectively help shape policy that aligns with the sector’s growth needs and emerging technologies. We are therefore urging our members to provide their insight for our submission.”
Key issues covered by the IMI survey include:
- The subsectors and technologies in automotive that the UK government should focus on and why.
- The key enablers and barriers to growth that individuals and businesses are experiencing and how they believe the UK government should address them.
- What government policy can do to address the people and skills barriers, including issues such as delivery of employment support, careers, and skills provision.
- What more can be done to achieve a step change in employer investment in training.
Output from the IMI survey will be included in the IMI response to the Industrial Strategy Consultation as well as shared with members. Click here to complete the survey.
