GSF Car Parts warns repairers of MOT surge

GSF Car Parts has warned that demand for MOT services in the coming weeks will be among the highest recorded.

According to recent figures from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), an estimated 3.4 million MOT tests are expected to take place in September 2024 alone, marking a significant increase from previous years.

MOT surge

These predictions of unprecedented volumes are a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, when drivers were granted six-month MOT extensions during the first half of 2020. That meant a wave of MOTs were due in the autumn.

To meet surging numbers, GSF Car Parts is leveraging its extensive network of over 190 branches nationwide and has taken proactive measures to ensure a steady supply of essential components, from brake pads to filters, so that garages can meet the surge in demand without compromising on quality or service.

Steve Horne, CEO, said:

“As we approach what is set to be a record-breaking MOT season, it’s crucial that drivers prepare their vehicles in advance. At GSF Car Parts, we are committed to supporting garages across the UK by providing a reliable supply of parts during this busy period. Our extensive network of branches is primed to deliver the high-quality parts needed to keep vehicles on the road and ensure they pass their MOTs.”
