DEBRA UK named official Bodyshop Awards charity

Bodyshop Magazine is delighted to announce that it is teaming up with the Butterfly Skin Charity – DEBRA UK – as its official charity partner for this year’s Bodyshop Awards.

DEBRA is the national support organisation for people living with the rare and extremely painful genetic skin condition known as epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

Official Bodyshop Awards charity

DEBRA supports more than 3,800 members, including those living with EB, their relatives, partners, carers, healthcare professionals, and researchers who are working to find treatments and cures for the disease.

At the Bodyshop Awards & Expo 2024 on 19 September, the magazine will work closely with the team from DEBRA UK to help raise much-needed funds to assist the charity’s mission.

DEBRA UK CEO Tony Byrne said as DEBRA was named the official Bodyshop Awards charity:

“We’re delighted that Bodyshop Magazine has chosen DEBRA UK as their charity of choice at this year’s Bodyshop Awards & Expo 2024. DEBRA UK exists to provide care and support to improve the quality of life for people living with epidermolysis bullosa and fund research to find effective treatments and, ultimately, cures for EB.

“EB is an incredibly painful genetic skin blistering condition. It causes the skin to blister and tear at the slightest touch. With skin as fragile as a butterfly’s wings, it’s often referred to as ‘butterfly skin’.

“On behalf of everyone at DEBRA UK and the EB community, we would like to thank Bodyshop Magazine for their support and for joining us in ‘BEing the difference for EB’.”

Fundraising for a worthy cause

Bodyshop editor Simon Wait added: “DEBRA UK is an amazing charity. It is widely supported by many of our colleagues across the UK repair sector – especially Morelli Group through its national sales director Mark Moring who was recently named an ambassador for DEBRA UK – so placing our support behind this charity is the least Bodyshop Magazine could do.”

And don’t miss this chance to win Channel 4 presenter Tim Shaw’s beautifully restored BMW E36 M3 Evolution Convertible, which he donated to DEBRA UK to auction off in a £5-per-ticket raffle, which runs until midnight on 31 August.
