Automotive apprentices come with £1,000 cash back benefit
Apprenticeship Central has reminded bodyshops that they can claim up to £1,000 tax free if they take on automotive apprentices under the age of 19.
It has highlighted this little-known initiative after finding that very few repairers were aware that this cashback is available.
Director Eleanor Baker Barnes said: “We are not hugely surprised at the lack of awareness. However, part of our role is to bring benefits like this to the top of the industry’s agenda. Our experienced team understand the landscape and are here to help customers to claim this free cash.”
Apprenticeship Central has been set up to help the industry meet the skills challenge. It serves bodyshops who want to outsource recruitment and retention and steers them through the apprenticeship process.
Meanwhile, recent studies have revealed that nearly half of school leavers are now considering an apprenticeship as a viable alternative to university while the number of of 16-19 year olds employed as apprentices surged by a third during the 2023/24 academic year.
