ATS Euromaster apprenticeship programme extended

ATS Euromaster apprenticeship programme

The ATS Euromaster apprenticeship programme is to be expanded in order to help address the continuing skills shortage in the sector. The company’s investment in training and upskilling has already proven successful, with more apprentices remaining with the company after course completion since the programme was launched in 2022.

However, retaining staff and attracting experienced technicians remain ongoing challenges whether these are in customer service or in service centre operations. It is estimated that 20% of the workforce in the UK will be significantly under-skilled for their jobs by 2030.

The Institute of the Motor Industry predicts that, to service the increasing number of electric vehicles in the market, there will be a shortfall of 35,700 technicians by 2030. Aware of such figures, ATS says it is continuing to grow the number of apprentices in the company year on year as it invests in training and upskilling.

Run in collaboration with national apprenticeship provider Remit Training, ATS Euromaster now offers programmes in both its service centres and back-office customer service functions, offering young people a springboard for their careers and opportunities for professional advancement. Approximately 80% of apprenticeship positions are in the service centres.

The ATS Level 2 Autocare Standard programme lasts 24 months, after which apprentices are qualified to perform the core services offered by ATS. The ATS Customer Service Representative apprenticeship is based in the Go-To call centre, one of ATS Euromaster’s largest back-office departments, and runs for 15 months. Upon completion, apprentices will achieve their Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner qualification.

Currently there are five apprenticeship cohorts running, and by September 2024 it will involve more than 60 apprentices.

Nicola Burrows, learning & development business partner at ATS Euromaster, said:

“We are committed to our apprentices and the apprenticeship programme, and we are constantly seeking ways to attract new talent to ATS. Through these programmes, we provide young people with the opportunity to launch their careers and grow professionally.

“The programme is delivered by a distinguished provider. We will continue to invest in these young individuals to ensure we develop a strong and highly skilled workforce for the future, one that recognises our commitment to their success.”

ATS Euromaster partnered with Remit Training in 2022 to offer career opportunities for young people. Upon completion of the ATS Euromaster apprenticeship programme, participants can continue their learning and advancement within the company.

“It is encouraging to see this programme continue to expand. We are delighted to support ATS in the investment of their people and welcoming the next generation to careers in the automotive industry with quality learning experiences.”
