ADAS integration surging according to PARTS report
A new report has revealed that 10 out of 14 ADAS features were included in more than 50% of passenger cars developed by July 2023.
Meanwhile, five of the 10 exceeded 90% market share.
The findings released by the Partnership for Analytics Research in Traffic Safety (PARTS) has revealed that 10 out of 14 ADAS features were included in more than 50% of passenger cars developed by July 2023.
The figures are based on data from 98 million passenger vehicles sold in the US covering 168 models from 2015–2023 and produced by nine OEMs and follows a similar report in 2021, when no ADAS feature exceeded 75% of the market.
ADAS features
The report found that forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking (AEB), pedestrian detection warning, pedestrian AEB, and lane departure warning all achieved market penetration ranging from 91-94%.
Meanwhile, lane keeping assistance, automatic high beam, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane centre assistance were included in more than half of new vehicles developed in the same time period.
A statement released by PARTS said:
“This report underscores the rapid, voluntary integration of ADAS features in new vehicles, highlighting the industry’s commitment to advanced vehicle safety. PARTS will continue to provide real-world insights into the safety benefits and opportunities of emerging advanced driver assistance systems.”
David Liu, PARTS industry co-chair, added:
“These results underscore the tremendous efforts of automakers, in close collaboration with government partners, to double down on safety. Automakers are rapidly and voluntarily embracing a wide array of advanced safety technologies to achieve our shared objective of reducing roadway fatalities.”
