Volkswagen Group UK celebrates 70-year milestone
Volkswagen Group UK is celebrating 70 years of operations in the UK.
Now selling more than one in five cars on UK roads, the group marked the anniversary at its Milton Keynes headquarters.
Activities included TED-style talks on brand advertising, establishing your ‘why’, and problem solving and transformation.
Meanwhile, Olympian Chemmy Alcott and futurologist Aric Dromi delivered keynote speeches, before colleagues from across the six brands and six functions mingled during lunch.
Volkswagen Group managing director Alex Smith also handed over a cheque to Ian Revell, CEO of Milton Keynes Community Foundation (MKCF), establishing the Volkswagen Group Endowment Fund. The Group’s £35,000 donation will be matched from the MKCF’s Match Fund campaign to make a £70,000 endowment, a fitting celebration of the 70th anniversary.
Smith said: “As we celebrate our past, present and future as the leading automotive Group in the UK, we are delighted to continue our 32-year relationship with MKCF by supporting investment in this new fund. We are confident it will be used wisely to give grants to local charities which now, more than ever, need our help. We are proud to give back to the local community in Milton Keynes, as well as through our other charitable donations to a number of other organisations across the country.”
