Van theft hotspots revealed
A new report has identified the UK’s van theft hotspots, with South Yorkshire topping the list.
According to data released by Go.Compare Van Insurance, more vans were stolen in this area than in any other during 2022, with a ratio of 14.07 thefts for every 1,000 registered vans.
The second largest hotspot is Northumbria, where 12.69 out of every 1,000 registered vans were stolen, followed by London Metropolitan with 10.37 thefts for every 1,000 registered vans.
The area with the least van thefts was Dyfed-Powys in Wales, with a ratio of just 0.1 thefts for every 1,000 registered vans. Other locations with a ratio below one include North Wales, Gloucestershire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.
Tom Banks, motoring expert at Go.Compare, said: “Vans are often targeted by thieves for the value of their contents. Highlighting the biggest van theft hotspots in the UK will hopefully help owners to take extra care, especially for those that travel regularly.”
