TMD Friction completes EV training
TMD Friction UK has completed the latest IMI-accredited electric and hybrid vehicle training.
Its research and development team undertook the IMI Level 3 training at TMD Friction’s East Yorkshire site in Seaton Ross, meaning the entire UK-based technical and R&D teams are now equipped and qualified to carry out work on EVs and hybrids.
Modules covered repairs to electric and hybrid vehicle high voltage systems and regenerative braking, while the team also learnt the skills and expertise required to work safely around a vehicle that may have had damage to its high energy or electrical system via e-learning initiatives.
Scott Irwin MIMI, head of technical training at TMD Friction, said: “It’s important to remain agile to the changing landscape of the automotive industry, especially as new electric powertrains are introduced as we aim to reduce emissions.”
Ian Featherstone, research and development director at TMD Friction, said: “So that we can continue to support our customers across passenger car and commercial vehicle markets for the long-term, our R&D team has an uncompromising approach to continuous professional development and understanding the workings of EVs and hybrids is no exception.”
