Test and Trace threatens car manufacturing
Production at Nissan’s Sunderland plant could be disrupted by a lack of staff.
It has confirmed that up to 900 employees, more than 10% of its workforce, is having to self-isolate at home.
Nissan said: “Production in certain areas of the plant has been adjusted as we manage a number of staff being required to self-isolate following close contact with Covid-19.
“The well-being of our team is our number one priority and we remain confident in the rigorous safety controls we have on site.”
Rolls-Royce is facing similar issues at its Goodwood factory, and has admitted it may have to halve production after a significant proportion of its workforce has to remain at home after being notified by the Test and Trace app.
