Gordon Murray Group names new CFO

The Gordon Murray Group has appointed Ian Palmer as its new chief financial officer, replacing Philip Lee who has recently taken the role of CEO at Gordon Murray Automotive.

Palmer has an extensive background in the global automotive industry and will report directly to Gordon Murray Group chairman, Professor Gordon Murray.

He is joining from LEVC, part of the Geely Group, where he worked as CFO. Previous roles have seen him work across three continents for the VW Group and its SEAT and Bentley brands. He also worked for Aston Martin for five years.

The new CFO will form part of a newly formed operating board, encompassing a leadership team that will steer GMG to future growth and success. Already underway is a renewed focus on designing and engineering future electric vehicles, with significant investment being pumped into Gordon Murray Design and the newly created Gordon Murray Electronics division.

Palmer said: “I am hugely proud to be joining the Gordon Murray Group at this point in its trajectory. Gordon and his team have hugely exciting ambitions, for future growth and even more success and I intend to harness my experience to help fulfil them.”

Professor Murray said: “The Gordon Murray Group has an ambition to push automotive and technology boundaries to be the best there is. We are laser-focused on pursuing this ambitious agenda and therefore it’s essential that we build a world-class leadership team to drive us to achieve our goals. Ian very much fits into that category, and I would like to welcome him to the team. He is a crucial component to securing future investment and helping us to create further global success.”
