AW achieves carbon neutral benchmark

AW Repair Group has become the first bodyshop group in the UK to achieve the PAS2060 standard, which recognises an organisation’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality.

Working in collaboration with ECA Energy, AW Repair Group has collated a detailed carbon management plan after working through all three emission scopes.

AW’s strategic approach to repairing vehicles and being process driven across its group has been hugely beneficial in being able to announce carbon neutrality across its group and not just at a single site.

Following the NBRA Greener Bodyshop Awards in October 2019 where AW received a Gold Standard Award, the company had already made progress into measuring its carbon footprint by January 2020 prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, which delayed the next steps.

Company founder and CEO Andrew Walsh said: “Energy saving products and processes have always been a high priority when opening new sites and refurbishing existing. This is why all our sites are already fitted with LED Lighting, variable speed compressors and spray booths, always choosing the more energy efficient option every time.”

AW is committed to reducing its annual carbon footprint by a targeted 2% year-on-year and has already implemented a multitude of items including a new fleet of hybrid courtesy cars.

Communications and partnerships executive Jade Johnson said: “Collating all the information required for the three emission scopes was daunting. However, we started this process in November, so to have achieved carbon neutrality in five months for the group is a great achievement.”

Michael Golding, LV= General Insurance network manager, added: “For AW Repair Group to achieve PAS2060 within these timescales is an impressive commitment that demonstrates their dedication to the importance of a sustainable business model. LV= General Insurance is proud to partner with AW and our dedicated sole sites to provide customers with an environmentally aware repair solution, whilst providing a high level standard of repair quality and service.”

AW has three LV= Sole Supply Sites and all are included within the scope of the overall group having achieved the PAS2060 accreditation.
