Apprentice award created in memory of Fix Auto director
Fix Auto UK is creating a special recognition award for outstanding performance by an apprentice in memory of operations director for the network’s owned sites Nigel Luffman, who sadly passed away last month.
Entitled The Nigel Luffman Apprentice Award for Outstanding Achievement, the inaugural award will be presented during the organisation’s National Conference at the Vox Conference Centre in March next year.
Managing director Ian Pugh said: “Louise Woolacott of Fix Auto Mid Devon and Newton Abbot suggested the idea. I have felt since Nigel’s sad passing that we needed to do something to remember him by and a special award aimed at our apprentices was obvious.
“Nigel was extremely passionate about passing on his huge amount of experience and knowledge, I should know because I benefitted many times over the years of knowing him myself. Creating an award specifically aimed at our apprentices in his name is an honour and a privilege.”
Nigel’s wife, Jackie, said: “What an incredible gesture. I can’t thank Ian, Louise and the team enough. Like so many, apart from his family, Nigel lived for the industry and was passionate about sharing his knowledge and helping those youngsters coming through. He’d be extremely proud.”
