September sets 2020 records
September was the strongest month of 2020 for new and used car orders.
New car orders leapt 15%, and used cars increased 10.5% on September 2019, according to lead management experts at Dealerweb.
Enquiries increased by 16% for new cars and 11% for used cars with digital channels continuing to gain momentum. Average sale prices increased by 13% for new vehicles, £31,726 and four per cent for used cars to £19,518.
James Hill, managing director of Dealerweb, said: “With strong new and used orders since the lifting of lockdown there was an expectation that September would perform well. We saw big jumps in the number of enquiries, which bodes well for the coming months. Double-digit growth for both new and used vehicles illustrate how well dealers are adapting to the new retail environment.”
