Production blow for Wales

Ineos Automotive has confirmed it will build it Grenadier in France rather than Wales, as has originally been stated.

The 4×4 was due to be manufactured at a new site in Bridgend, creating up to 500 jobs. Instead, a deal has been agreed to produce the vehicles in France after Ineos bought Mercedes-Benz’s Hambach site, in Moselle.

In a statement, Ineos Automotive said: “The site’s location on the French-German border, only 200km from Stuttgart, gives excellent access to supply chains, automotive talent and target markets.”

Ineos will also build Daimler’s Smart EQ electric car at the Hambach site and supply parts for Mercedes Benz.
