NBRA welcomes government support
The NBRA has welcomed the new plan to support businesses impacted by Covid-19 and affected by local lockdowns in England.
Businesses in England required to close due to local lockdowns or targeted restrictions will now be able to receive grants worth up to £1,500 every three weeks. Payments are triggered by a national decision to close businesses in a high incidence area. Each payment will be made for a three-week lockdown period. Each new three-week lockdown period triggers an additional payment.
Chris Weeks, NBRA director, said: “We are glad to see that the new scheme provides a safety net to further protect jobs where a business is required to close. Many bodyshops have suspended activity since the coronavirus crisis escalated due to the decrease in work volumes caused by national and local lockdown restrictions.
“This support from the government will help bodyshops with a gradual, stable approach when reopening. The work that bodyshops do in keeping vehicles in a roadworthy condition is crucial to keeping England’s roads safe. Ensuring these businesses remain viable through the Covid-19 crisis is therefore essential.”
This targeted support is in addition to businesses eligibility for the government’s existing schemes.
