Mazda adjusts global production schedules
Mazda is adjusting production at its global facilities due to the difficulties in procuring parts, the plummeting sales in overseas markets, and the uncertainty of future sales.
It is suspending production for 13 days and operating day-time shifts only for eight days at the Hiroshima and Hofu plants from March 28. Production in Mexico and Thailand is also being suspended.
It said: “We will continue our sales operations in certain countries including Japan and China. For other regions, including Europe, we will take appropriate action that respects the policies being implemented to prevent the spread of the virus and we will do everything we can to minimize the impact on the sales and service operations for our customers. In addition, we will continue to work on minimizing the impact of the virus on our local business partners who have always shown their support.
“Mazda places the highest priority on the health and safety of communities, customers and employees and we will continue to adopt infection prevention measures such as teleworking and sterilization at Mazda offices and dealerships.”
