Industry remembers an unsung hero
The motor trade industry has lost a legend; Dennis Fernie passed away last month, leaving a great hole in the automotive industry.
He was the owner and founder of Calbrook Cars, better known as Metalflake, which started back in 1967. Along the way he has touched so many lives, people would describe him as a true businessman but with a caring heart. His employees were part of his extended family, and their loyalty and hard work never went unnoticed.
Described as ‘The King of grey importers’ by many as he was the first person to introduce grey importing to the trade, Dennis Fernie was unassuming and approachable to all that knew him, determined to succeed but not at the expense of others.
Popular and respected among his peers, he offered advice and wisdom to fellow colleagues and employees. His door was always open to anyone with new business ideas.
His sad passing has and will touch many lives and his legacy will never be forgotten.
