IBIS partner in the spotlight: Axalta Coating Systems
The International Bodyshop Industry Symposium (IBIS) is shining the spotlight on its relationship with one of its long-standing partners, Axalta Coating Systems.
IBIS CEO Jason Moseley recently interviewed Jim Muse, vice-president of refinish EMEA at Axalta, who’s been a supporter and exponent of IBIS for many years, and last year personally signed the multi-year agreement for their global partnership.
In the interview, Muse talks about his seven-year career with Axalta and the time he’s spent in Switzerland in his current role. He shares the insights and experiences he has gained while working in various places around the globe, and how he leverages that experience to grow Axalta’s business.
Rather than focusing on the many cultural and language differences he has observed in Europe, Muse looks at the many similarities that exist between the operating models in Europe and North America, for example. He sees merit in learning from each other as a positive way to make improvements to advance the company.
It is clear just how passionate Muse is about the collision repair industry where he’s worked for the past 30 years. He tells Moseley that he’s focused on finding qualified, motivated and talented young people to come into the industry and take it to the next level.
As a conclusion to their conversation, Moseley is keen to find out from Muse what it is that drives Axalta to support and invest in IBIS. In Muses’ words, it is the fact that IBIS singularly “provides multiple sources of information from multiple leaders, from multiple parts of our industry that enable all of us to go back and form our own opinions and our own thoughts about what’s going to happen. And from those thoughts, build your individual company strategy”.
