Government to bring forward petrol and diesel ban
The government is set to announce plans to ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars in the UK five years earlier than previously stated.
It had set a 2040 deadline, but now believes that is not ambitious enough.
It will also extend the ban to include hybrids.
The government believes that initiatives such as this will see a surge in demand for lithium-ion cells, which is already outstripping supply.
